I would use a prepaid credit card with a set limit. Using a personal credit card over the internet is as safe as your local store as long as the site you are using has a SSL this a a security level and you see it as a lock at the top of your tab bar on the transaction page.
With a prepaid credit card you can use it anywhere you want and it does have a limit and your personal information is not tied to it! good luck!
